We have created this tincture with herbs and medicinal mushrooms that are traditionally used in offering support to the immune system. We have found that these herbs and medicinal mushrooms help reduce the chances of catching infectious illnesses or support a quicker resolution to an infection.
Please seek guidance from a herbalist or GP if you are concerned about an infection or if it seems to be getting worse.
It is important to support your immune system by eating well (simple un-processed foods, plenty of veg and salad and avoiding refined carbohydrates), drinking enough water, limiting caffeine and alcohol intake, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly and reducing stress levels. These are the basic essentials to ensure good immune function and good health more generally. This tincture is designed to offer additional support.
If you are taking immuno supressant medication or have an auto-immune disease, we recommend seeking guidance from a registered herbalist before taking this tincture.
For further support/advice or if you feel you would benefit from an individually blended herbal tincture, we offer consultations either in person or online.

Our ingredients and why we chose them:
- Elderberry (Sambucus nigra)* - Elderberry is high in anti-oxidants and is used by herbalists as an antiviral with particular relevance to coughs, colds and flu.
- Astragalus membranaceus (astragalus root)* - Considered an adaptogen in herbal medicine ( a herb that has a strengthening and tonifying quality), with particular relevance to the immune system. This root has a long history of use in Chinese and Western herbal medicine which is backed up by a number of recent scientific trials.
- Echinacea purpurea (echinacea root)* - Used traditionally to support immune function and reduce inflammation. Also widely used in modern day herbal medicine.
- Piptoporus betulinus (birch polypore bracket fungi)* - We collect this in the wild (sustainably) and prepare a dual extract to ensure all the benefical constituents are present . This fungi has been used for thousands of years to strengthen the immune system and as an antiseptic. Research has suggested antiviral, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. We have used it in our clinic for some time and find it a really helpful addition to remedies prepared to support immune function.
- Zingiber officinalis (ginger)* Ginger is not only a delicious warming culinary ingredient that supports and soothes digestion, it is also a medicinal herb used widely as a warming and strengthening medicine for colds, flu and fever. It is a herb known as a diaphoretic, meaning it can help encourage sweating with a fever- in naturopathic medicine this is considered an important step towards recovery.
- Ethanol - herbal tinctures contain ethanol. It is used as a highly effective means to extract the medicinal chemicals from the fresh plants and also preserves the remedy for several years. Adding the tincture to hot water and leaving for a few minutes helps a lot of the alcohol to evaporate.
